This isn't good or bad. It's just the way of things. Nothing stays the same.

Enemies of Classic
The Shitennou
![[image]](http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii112/Tengoko/moon/kunzite.jpg) from left to right- Jadeite, Nephrite, Zoisite, Kunzite
*Jadeite- Jadeite was the first of the shitennou to appear. His goal was to collect energy from Queen Metalia and he did this by using youma that were able to disguise themselves until they needed to act. He also had the ability to disguise himself as well. In the anime, after failing so many times, Beryl sentenced him to eternal sleep. In the manga, Sailor Mars killed him in a graphic way, melting his skin until he was a skeleton. It was shown in a flashback that he had once served King Endymion during the Golden Kingdom/Silver Millennium days but was brainwashed by Beryl into attacking them. In the manga, after he died, his body changed into a stone and his spirit is able to contact Mamoru where he still advises him.
*Nephrite- Nephrite is the second shitennou to appear. In the anime he at first serves Beryl but later falls in love with Usagi's friend, Naru, and dies to protect her from Zoisite. In the manga, he is angry about the death of his fallen comrade (Jadeite) and seeks to take revenge on the senshi. He uses their friends against them, but is eventually killed by Sailor Jupiter. After he died, he turned into a stone that Mamoru kept with him. In addition to preventing him from being stabbed as a stone, he is able to contact Mamoru in spirit form through the stone.
*Zoisite- Zoisite in the anime was a horrible travesty- but I will explain it anyway. Basically, they turned possibly one of the most dangerous of the shitennou into some girly abomination, though he was still effective. He survived longer than the first two shitennou, to his credit, and was eventually killed by Beryl for disobeying her orders not to harm Tuxedo Mask. Also, he was Kunzite's lover. In the manga, he was just young and uncertain and often went to Kunzite for advice, but they were not lovers. He looked at Kunzite as more of a big brother. When Nephrite died in the anime, Zoisite had been directly responsible. In the manga, when he saw Nephrite die, he was enraged and horrified. He vowed to take revenge on the senshi but in the end was killed by Sailor Venus' boomerang attack, ripping him to shreds. After he died, he turned into a stone that Mamoru kept with him. In addition to preventing him from being stabbed as a stone, he is able to contact Mamoru in spirit form through the stone. Note** The American dub changed Zoisite into a female.
*Kunzite- Kunzite is often described as the greatest and best of the four shitennou. He is the last to appear, serving first as Zoisite's mentor. In the anime, he is his lover. In the manga, he just advises him and treats him like a younger brother. In the anime, he begins to distrust Beryl after she kills Zoisite, but serves her anyway, eventually dying when a Sailor Planet attack turned his sword on him, stabbing him. In the manga, his story is much different: When the shitennou die, he is at first unaffected. He has telekenetic powers, is able to hover, and can also absorb the attacks of the senshi. He nearly kills Sailor Moon in an attack at the Tokyo Tower, but Tuxedo Mask jumps in the way. It is revealed then that Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask are Princess Serenity and Prince Endymion. This triggers certain memories to stir in Kunzite's mind and he begins to remember how he had been loyal to Endymion in life times before. Flashbacks of this time show Kunzite telling Mamoru that he distrusts the people of the moon, believing that they are spying on them. Other show him separating Endymion and Princess Serenity, but also flirtatiously teasing Sailor Venus who blushes in his presence. He returns to the graves of his fallen comrades and sees their bodies come to life before quickly decomposing and turning into stones. This effects Kunzite greatly who now believes he failed them. After Endymion is killed, he asks Beryl what they are going to do with his body, calling him by name. She becomes aware that he is breaking the curse, so she plants a shard on his head, rendering him a mindless zombie. He attacks the senshi, leading them to space. He is eventually killed by a Sailor Planet Attack. He turns into a stone and comes back in spirit form to tell Mamoru how to kill Metalia. He advises him in spirit form.
Beryl- Beryl was a Queen of the Earth who had fallen in love with Endymion and had grown jealous of the moon. Using the power of Metalia, she attacked the Silver Millennium. In the anime, she loses this battle because Queen Serenity used the power of the Silver Crystal to make all those who had died be reborn in the future. In the manga, Beryl is killed in this time by Sailor Venus. When she returns, she tries once again to kill the senshi and strengthen Metalia, but is eventually killed by the power of the silver crystal.
Queen Metalia- Metalia is a non-humanoid entity who has power over Beryl and the Shitennou. She feeds off the energy on Earth. She eventually merges with Beryl to become one super entity. She is defeated by the Silver Crystal in both the Manga and the Anime.
